I'm Andrea, owner and primary wedding photographer with Whimsical Roots Photography. What started as a fluke encounter behind the lens at my very first wedding in 2014 has evolved into a passion and privilege of photographing love stories each weekend. I've experienced tremendous loss in life that has resulted in a desire to document every fleeting interaction that I witness. This is especially true at weddings where families and friends come together to celebrate a day that will only transpire once. I pride myself on anticipating fleeting moments and live vicariously through my couples & their families, experiencing all of the wide ranging emotions of a wedding day right alongside them. Truly, I cry at every wedding. I'll call your mom, mom & your dad, dad and I will give your grandma a big hug at the end of the night. Everyone says it, but I mean it, I will be your friend and I care about you, your love story & the memories you make on one of the most important days of your life.

With over 10 years of experience in the wedding photography world, I can say that style and skill are intermingled. I leverage a variety of approaches to curate imagery that tells the entire story of your day. This means that I know when and how to use posing, prompting, lighting, angles & the scenes throughout the day to create compelling photos that can make you laugh, make you cry and make you wonder how exactly I did it. Of course I love to act like a fly on the wall, waiting for a big laugh or a tearful hug but I also know when to take a director approach to make the magic happen.
For me, it is not about volume. It is about quality connections and relationship building. I am selective about the couples I work with and the love stories I document.
